Verizon is hosting a free electronics recycling event in partnership with Loudoun County from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the visitor parking area of the Verizon campus, 22201 Loudoun County Parkway. The event is open to Loudoun County residents.
Items collected will be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. They include: desktop and laptop computers, computer cables, mice, and keyboards, desktop printers, paper shredders, gaming consoles, telephones/answering machines, stereo/audio equipment, remote controls, cameras, electronic toys (batteries removed) and small appliances such as coffee makers, toasters and can openers.
Computer monitors, TVs, and other CRT (cathode ray tube) devices will not be accepted. Nor will refrigerators, freezers, laundry appliances, or any items that may contain hazardous waste — such as batteries, ink and toner, or mercury light bulbs.
Volunteers are needed to assist with unloading customer vehicles. For more information about the event or other opportunities to recycle electronics, please contact Tony Hayes, Recycling Specialist, Loudoun County Department of Construction and Waste Management 703-771-5514 or visit www.loudoun.gov/electronics.
